Peace
Pole Dedication
Aromas Troop 4002 lead by Leslie Austin and Michelle Faeth
have completed their peace pole project. The scouts, Laura
Clark, Olivia Austin, Molly Slovacek, Megan Kaiser, Alyssa
Rodriguez and Helen Frantz earned their Bronze Badge (the
highest honor in Girl Scouts) for this project. Ashley Piexoto
helped a lot but not enough to actually earn the award was
also a part of the project. See the pictures and read the
rest of the article on Aromas Tri-County
News Online.
Original
Peace Pole Story
On Wednesday,
September 11, 2002, our troop is planning a ceremony to dedicate
Aromas as a special community dedicated to peace. We are presently
talking with members of the community about a suitable location
for the Peace
Pole. In addition, we're planning to wrk with a local landscape
architect (for tips on visual appeal and low-maintenance plants)
and we're planning mosiac stepping stones (or hexagonal "sections"
in the form of a circular sidewalk) to surround the pole with
the pending support of the Aromas Hills Artisans. If you support
the idea of a peace pole and have an interest in sharing your
perspective, we invite you to fill in the information below
to give this project
a broader community-based voice.
The Peace Pole, we believe, will inspire our community to join,
in our hearts, the network of peace consciousness now emerging
all over the world. We hope you share our sentiment and will
support our efforts.
